MM Candle Co. was founded in 2020 by Dr. Megan L. Rheingans Michael. Megan started candle making as a way of relaxation and gifting with friends and family.

Her passion for candle making met with extensive knowledge in holistic medicine brought her the opportunity to join together creative networks of veterans and perfumers.

MM Candle Co is deeply committed to sustainability. The supplies we use, both natural and manufactured, are treated as valued resources to be respected.

When choosing raw materials for the creation of our scents, perfumer Tianna Mockett of Ataraxia works closely with essential oil suppliers to understand the impact the use of any single material will have on the supply chain, the environment, and the candles we produce.

Choosing materials that have been sustainably grown, harvested, and treated means that the scents not only fit within our practice of remaining sustainable for the future, but also that the impact of the fragrant portion of the scent on the environment will be targeted in both scope and effect.

The waxes we have chosen for our candles are also considered from the point-of-view of sustainability.

When selecting a blend to use, we consider the impact the growth and harvest of the source crop has on local economies as well as the number of jobs created, and the treatment of the workers who harvest and create the starting materials.

In addition, the traceability of the waxes and their overall contribution to the carbon footprint of the final product are assessed and offset wherever possible.

The use of all-cotton wicks, which contain no lead, means that our candles burn cleaner and brighter, with no harmful metals being released into the environment either during production or in use.

When mixing the fragrances and pouring the candles, we feel that smaller is better.

We prefer the time-honored tradition of small batches, and hand pouring locally over mass production. In this way we are able to engage and sustain a community of workers that we remain closely aligned with, as well as offering the ability to oversee every aspect of the production to guarantee a superior result. In addition, working in smaller batches means that we never significantly contribute to the depletion of precious natural resources.
